Last semester, the Center for Career Education partnered with employers across industries as part of CCE’s Design Your Next Steps workshop series, to help students gain practical skills for engagement with employers and alumni.
Fall Employer Workshops:
Consulting Case Study Workshop with OC&C
Interview Prep with Bank of America
Negotiation Skills with AlphaSights
Tech Interviewing Workshop with Google
Creative Resume and Cover Letter Workshop with Nickelodeon
Key Takeaways:
Our fall workshops offered students the opportunity to gain industry knowledge, connect with employers, and build practical career skills. Here are some key takeaways from the workshops:
OC&C supports students with case interview preparation:
Case Interviews are an integral stage of the consulting recruitment process. OC&C encouraged students to do their research on case frameworks and practice case questions prior to an interview. They also encouraged students to read the news to stay up-to-date on company initiatives and recent work.
Bank of America helps student cultivate interviewing skills:
During the workshop, Bank of America provided tips for interview success. Bank of America encouraged students to prepare by researching the company and the job expectations, anticipating questions based on the job description, and considering thoughtful questions to ask that will communicate your interest and help you gain further insight into the position.
AlphaSights gives students a toolkit to tackle job offer negotiation:
During the workshop, AlphaSights worked with students to negotiate with confidence. They shared 3 key principles for successful negotiation: establish common ground, create an anchor, and counter for better results.
Google facilitates practice for technical interview process:
Software or technical roles typically have a technical assessment as part of the application process. During this workshop, Google shared strategies and insights to prepare for technical interview assessments. Google’s Tech Dev Guide shares tools and resources to help students practice their coding skills and prepare for interviews using questions from previous interviews.

Nickelodeon empowers self reflection during creative job recruitment:
During the workshop, Nickelodeon worked with students to craft their professional introduction by having students write down 3 positive adjectives about themselves and incorporate these adjectives into a professional introduction. Taking the time to reflect on and acknowledge the things you do well can help ensure that they are shining through as you navigate a job application process.
