Pronouns in Use: She/Her or They/Them

When I graduated from college, I knew that I wanted to help people somehow, but I didn’t know what to study or how to get trained. I worked in reception at a car company, billing for a department store, and held various temp office jobs in LA, Oakland, and Boston before deciding to pursue a graduate degree in Anthropology, which was close to what I wanted, but still not quite right. When I switched to Counseling Psychology, I felt like I had finally found a home where people were speaking my language. In my counseling career, I have worked in community mental health, homeless services, college sexual violence prevention, arts and recreation, and now in career counseling at CCE.

As part of the alumni and undergraduate career development team at CCE, I create a welcoming environment for students and alumni to explore areas of interest, build confidence and advance careers. I love helping students to reflect on who they are, why they are drawn to a particular field, how their identities impact their path, and what value they can offer.  My job includes a wonderful mix of career counseling, researching career trends, developing and editing resources and other communications, cross-team committee meetings, presenting workshops, and collaborating with campus colleagues and student groups.

When I am not in the basement of CCE, you can find me enjoying an acrostic puzzle, reading urban fantasy, working on a genealogy project or exploring historical and cultural sites in NYC with my wife and daughter.
